My bike was stolen a couple of weeks ago from Davis Square. I rode my bike to work and locked it up outside and when I left work it was no where to be found. It was so sad and ruined my week.
I didn’t get a new bike right away because I was holding out to see if I the police could find it (since I reported my stolen bike) or if I could find someone on the street riding it. I would have tackled the person if I saw my bike. Every time I saw a bike that looked remotely like mine, I’d say, “Is that my bike?”
After a couple of weeks I couldn’t wait any longer and realized I will probably never see that bike again. I only had it for 3 days and rode it two times. It was quite sad that I barely knew that bike – a used bright red specialized hybrid – a beauty.
I decided I would suck it up and get a new bike. I went to Bicycle Exchange in Porter Square Cambridge, MA. The people in there were super helpful and very nice. I was able to find a new bike and it was a brand new bike not used this time.
I rode the bike to work today and I brought it upstairs to my office. There is no way I am going to make the mistake twice and leave it outside for bike thieves to try and take my new shiny forest green bike. The bike rides really well and the gears shift beautifully. The other bike had some trouble with the 5th and 6th gear.
Anyway, I am now a proud owner of a new shiny bike and I am going to keep a very close eye on it so it won’t be stolen from me.
I am excited to ride to work and to go on long bike rides on the weekend. It is going to be awesome – yipppppeeee!!!!!
